e.l.f BEAUTY BOOK smokey eye edition

Who Dosen't want a nice lil book which can change ur entire look in just minutes??? Oh.. Well  i am not talking about a real book of pages but ELF beauty Book

A mini beauty eyeshadow book-like palette, looks really adorable.:)
I have got this 1 in Smokey Eye edition..
It Has a book like binding which is quite hard hence no need of worry about breakage and mishandeling eyeshadows the are quite safe under a protective thick plastic page like cover in between the binding and shadow palette

it contains 12 eyeshades + 1 sponge applicator and a mini eye Brightening pencil in black..
I have discarded the applicator and pencil because i use shader brushes for eyeshadow application and the pencil was not at all pigmented it was quite dry and poor in quality.

when we open the book on the first we find instructions for achieving perfect smokey eyes.. and beleive me by following u will really get what it says...
In just 5 steps defined a perfect smokey eye can be achieved.
1.Define the eyes.
2.Contours and highlights
3.base shade
4.Contour shade
5.Dramatic

Now as per eyeshadows as u can see we have 12 subtle shades for creating a smokey eye look, the ingredients are
Eyeshadow ingredients:
Talc, mica, zincsterate,kaolin, paraffinium liuidium (mineral oil), petrolatum, bis diglyceryl, polyacyladipate-2, methylparaben, propylparaben, may contain iron oxides, magnese violet, mica, titanium dioxide, yellow no.5 lake,red no40 lake,ultramarine violet,blue no1 lake

the eye shadows are good in term of selection for smokey eye makeup. It has more of neutral and nude toned shades which is ideal for a routine makeup look.

the upper two rows swatches are here  includes mentioned shades 

few shades are well pigmented and the others are poorly pigmented :(

only metal grey, silver light sky blue are nicely pigmented otherwise rest are so poor in terms of application even if i rub them hard with my fingers the product doesn't show well.

I like the last row in which only the tan brown is poorly pigmented otherwise all other work fine and the color pay-off is also good 

 they are also abit chalky and most of the shades are matte but metallic colors have their metallic sheen

When applied on eyelids only the few selected eye shadows work, the color pay-off is medium . You have to build up the product in order to get desired results.

Negative points:
* Some shades are poorly pigmented
* Color pay-off is medium 
* Eye pencil is poorly manufactured, and is useless
* Eye shadows are abit chalky will give fall outs
* Might not be easily available

Positive points:
* Pigmented eye shadows looks good when applied
* Eye shadow pans are slightly bigger than the usual palettes
* Color selection is excellent ,when it comes to the requirement of neutral or smokey palette
* Step by step guide helps you get a perfect smokey look
* Portable and handy, ideal for travel makeup bags
* Packaging is excellent, helps protecting eyeshadows from breakage and dust
* A cute mini book brings style and elegance, looks adorable

My Views:
Over all its a fine palette. Neither amazing nor disastrous. I keep it while travelling as its handy and portable, have neutral shades and serves my purpose.
I got it as a gift , but you can get it from www.elf.co.uk or google it for buying ,its price is around. $6-$10 , I am not sure but its pocket friendly like all other elf products.

Would I buy it again?
Mmmm... No I don't think so , for a neutral or smokey palette I will seek other brands.
I will rate it 2.5/5.
