Review, Swatches & Tutorial: Essence Eyebrow Designer Pencil

Posted by Aamal Nauman at 08:37 0 comments

This is my first eyebrow pencil that I ever bought. I know you must be thinking "she's a makeup obsessed woman and doesn't own a single eye brow pencil", it's an inevitable fact though. The reason is because my eyebrows are already really thick and they never looked sparse or un-done even if I don't groom them or use brow makeup. Of course, I do tame them regularly by tweezing them.

As you all know, the hair growth reduces with age, leading thinning of hair and I thought now is the time I am in need of it. So, I bought the Essence eyebrow pencil in brunette.
SWATCH:

My reason of choosing the brunette shade is that I don't want to look like a weirdo with black dramatic eye brows. Plus, brown toned pencils are perfect for a more natural look. It also has an eyebrow brush attached to it's lid/cover. The bristles of the brush are hard and stiff which allow for taming heavy, thick and textured eyebrows perfectly.
The pigmentation of Essence eyebrow pencil is moderate. I won't claim it to do wonders because the texture of the pencil is slightly dry (it is might be due to the winter weather) . Anyways by applying a little pressure you can have it easily glide over the eyebrows.
DEMO / PICTORIAL:

STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL:
  1. I firstly tamed/groomed my eyebrows with the brush that's attached to the pencil.
  2. Then, I drew a line under my eyebrow over the brow bone area completely.
  3. Then on the upper side, I left a small half inched area and drew the line following my eyebrow shape.
  4. Then, I slightly sketched small strokes by filling in by brows (don't rub or drag the pencil to fill but just give quick light strokes) to make it look natural and full.
  5. Then I again tamed the brows with same brush in order to equalize and balance the color evenly.
PROS:
  • Brunette is a perfect shade for dark haired brows
  • Gives a naturally fuller eyebrows look
  • Affordable
  • Easily Available
  • Staying power is good
CONS:
  • Slightly dry in pigmentation

MY THOUGHTS:
I am pretty satisfied with this product.

EOTD:Autumn folliage evening inspired eyes

Posted by Aamal Nauman at 07:22 5 comments
As the Sun is loosing its blaze day by day, we all are getting a glimpse of winter through night breezes.
Between the summer and  winter an air of pessimism serves as the barrier which is AUTUMN.
Usually shades of browns, bronze, pale gold, copper, rust and other earthen tones are associated with fall autumn looks which further enhances the gloomy ambiance, but to be honest I like the positive side of autumn which is a new beginning from an ending.A phase of transition always inspires and soothes human soul n moods.
So i decided to create a fall inspired  look based on cheery side of autumn.
So let's get started.

  1. Prime and prep ur eyes with a good primer
  2. Apply a white pencil in the inner corner of eye ,inner 1/3rd lid and under brow bone. Then apply a purple pencil in the midst part of lid and black pencil on the outer corner as shown above. (all of these will perform as a good base for the colors to really pop and  show up intensely)
  3. Apply a purple shade all over ur eyelid
  4. Then apply slightly darker tome of plum all over the eyelid again
  5. blend harsh crease line with a lilac toned eye-shadow

6. Highlight the inner corner of the eye with shimmery pale gold
7. Apply a copper brown shade emerging from the gold, blend well both the colors.
8. Now apply a bright pink toned eye-shadow on Ur crease and smudge the color well
9. Blending the crease gently would help to give a defined look. Highlight the brow bone area with a nude toned eye-shadow
10. Under the water line, starting from the inner corner I used a light turquoise color and blend it with forest green at the end to give a gradual color lift.

Apply Eyelashes (totaly optional), I just put on some mascara eyeliner and on water line used my kohl pencil..and here u go with the look..

now for the products here u can have a look
